The Plot

It's been more than three generations since pureblood families inherited old powers. Now, these powers are only myths, legends, or so says the history books. It is said that the birth of Tom Riddle froze these powers; that the gods decided these powers were too destructive to be manipulated in the coming war. Of course, all wars need to come to an end, and frozen pure bloodlines have now been awakened to finally put an end to it. It happened instantly. Fire, Water, Earth, Air, Lightning, Metal, Wood, Blood, Light, Darkness, Life and Death lines were awakened on September 16th it should have been a time to rejoice, the world's saviors had been chosen.

Of course, not all of the old families remained pure, their powers were diluted like their bloodlines. This left Blood at merely a fraction of it's original power. Ginevra Weasley. Lavender Brown, Padma Patil, Cho Chang, Blaise Zabini, Draco Malfoy, Neville Longbottom, Luna Lovegood, Tristan Clark, Remus Lupin and Harry Potter were from the elemental families of old. Because there was no named Black family heir of their generation, the Black family power went to Half-blood Nymphadora Tonks. This ability would usually go to the closest related pureblood, but considering Draco was already the Malfoy heir, it was forced into the diluted line, just as with Harry and Remus's powers.  However, Harry's powers are still latent and Remus has kept his powers quite secret from everyone besides Dumbledore. 

Instead of being loved and praised, like their kind had been for many millennium, they were confronted with fear and jealousy, even hatred. They did not even have the choice of keeping their heritage secret. For those students still in Hogwarts, it happened at 7:00 pm in the great hall on September 13th, 1996. Each of these students was sent into a fit of pain. Each students skin was covered in in marks of their element, hair and eye color was even temporarily changed.  Now, when each student uses their power, their eyes and hair usually change colors.

Not all students acted out against them, others were fascinated, but attacks were soon waged on the newly awakened elementals. Though this lasted for a very short time, as Harry Potter acted out against these attacks. Because of the fact that the power preferred pure bloods over those of mixed blood, he assumed Voldemort would use these powers for his own advantage, and alienating these with these powers may drive them to Voldemort and make things a lot harder.  Dumbledore's Army had a new purpose.  To protect these elementals from Voldemort, even if that meant kidnapping said elemental, namely Draco Malfoy, who is now being held in the Room of Requirement by the army.  Blaise Zabini has left Hogwarts, fearing the same would happen to him too. 

Some of the DA wants to hold all of the elementals, even those who are not at risk of joining Voldemort.  These renegades have already capture Padma Patil, and due to an "accident", she died, transferring her powers to her twin, Parvati Patil.  Those at fault were not allowed to be in the DA any longer, creating their own group where they would capture the elementals and hold them, just as the DA has done with Draco.  They call themselves Protectori ai Viitorului, or PV's for short.  No one really knows who is a PV, except their leader, Tristan Clark.  Even PV's do not know everyone that is a part of the group, only Tristan knows all of the members.  Some of the PV's are part of the DA, but once discovered, they are banished from the DA. 

The Darkness, Life and Death elementals are still unknown to the general public, Tristan and Remus both keeping their powers secret, and Harry having not unlocked his powers yet.  No one knows who to trust, whether they can trust each other or not.  The DA want to protect the elementals, the PV's want to capture the elementals, and Death Eaters want the elementals to use for the advancement of the war effort on their part.   War with Voldemort is lurking in the horizon.
